North Korea may be READY to start nuclear war IMMEDIATELY - Japan

The horrifying revelation follows a series of controversial missile launches by Kim Jong-un’s hermit state.

Japan today released its annual defence report, in which it admitted concerns about North Korea’s nuclear programme.

They said Kim could already be capable of launching a nuclear attack, with mystery surrounding the exact sophistication of the rogue state.

The paper said: "It is conceivable that North Korea's nuclear weapons programme has already considerably advanced and it is possible that North Korea has already achieved the miniaturisation of nuclear weapons and has acquired nuclear warheads.

"Since last year, when it forcibly implemented two nuclear tests and more than 20 ballistic missile launches, the security threats have entered a new stage.”

This announcement will set alarm bells ringing in Washington, after it was revealed last month North Korea is now capable of attacking the US mainland.

Japanese party lawmakers are now calling for the government to acquire the capability to attack enemy bases rather than operate purely in terms of defence.

North Korea has carried out a series of missile tests in recent months

Led by Itsunori Onodera, the group want Japan to end its current stance and instead acquire bombers and cruise missiles with the range to strike the countries.

Mr Onodera said: “North Korea's missiles represent a deepening threat. That, along with China's continued threatening behaviour in the East China Sea and South China Sea, is a major concern for Japan.”

It comes after Japanese citizen carried out a nuclear attack drill, in which they were shown cowering in apparent terror.

Japanese citizens have carried out attack drills as North Korea escalates its missile programme

During a harrowing video, the worried citizens of the town of Sakata are told “a missile has been launched and is heading in this direction. Take cover in a concrete building”.

A local taking part in the tests said: “It is very scary. I do not know where to run if there is a missile strike. I need practice like today’s test to learn what to do.”

Another participant added: “We are told to hit the ground or hide behind a wall, but will that really help? Will that really protect us if a missile falls here. I wonder?”
